A fad is a popularised theme or message that is repeatedly posted by multiple users, often with minor changes to the topic title and/or message. Fads can be short-lasting and limited to a single board, or can dominate the entire site for years at a time. Many of the site-wide fads, such as LUEshi, begin at LUE, but can begin anywhere, including other websites. A fad is considered disruptive, and is a Terms of Use violation.
