Game Save

From WikiFAQs
Jump to: navigation, search

Game Saves, commonly referred to as just "saves" are a feature that are a part of GameFAQs, which are put on GameFAQs by its contributors. Game saves are basically files that can be downloaded from the site, and then used in different methods (varying by the console) to have new features or progress in a game unlocked instantly. For example, with the Nintendo Wii, if you wanted to downloaded a beaten file of a game, you would first download the game save for the game. You would then place the game save onto an SD card, insert it into the console, and copy the save onto the console memory. If done correctly, you would be able to play the game from exactly where the original player left off when the save was contributed. If the contributor had everything unlocked, you would have everything unlocked.

Compatable Consoles

Game saves can only be posted on GameFAQs for eleven different consoles, despite the fact that the site lists hundreds of consoles. These eleven consoles are:

  • Dreamcast
  • Game Boy Advance
  • Nintendo 64
  • Nintendo DS
  • GameCube
  • Nintendo Wii
  • PlayStation
  • PlayStation 2
  • PlayStation 3
  • PlayStation Portable
  • Xbox

There is much question as to why there are no saves for PC games - the answer is because it would extremely easy to put viruses in those saves.
