Gmail Trading Post was made when Gmail was released and there were mass topics made across many boards where people would request to be invited or people would give out invites. During one wave where Google gave out many invites at a time, these events reached such a peak that CJayC became annoyed enough to create board so that people would be able to trade invites without cluttering up other boards.

The board achieved its goal, and the invite topics were eliminated from all boards except the Trading Post. However, the board's purpose was short-lived, as after a few weeks pretty much everybody already had received an invite.

On June 20th, 2007 Gmail Trading Post was closed to new posts and was subsequently purged of all remaining posts, after which it was deleted.
