There are many fads used in Legends that may make little sense to those that do not regularly follow Legends

Skittles

Skittles are one of the true icons of Legends. Even if one does not like Skittles in real life, when one is on Legends, Skittles become the most important food item in the universe. Any attempt to downgrade Skittles on this board is disapproved by the regulars. Skittles are used for everything from eating them plain to artificial limbs to beverages to weapons.

Related to Skittles is Skittlebrew. Nobody really knows just where the idea came from, but, ever since the idea has been around, everybody has tried many different recipes, just to create the perfect Skittlebrew. The generic consensus is to take your favorite beer, soda, or juice and add Skittles to it and let it dissolve. Sometimes it tastes good... Other times, not so good.

Credit for starting the Skittles craze goes to Giacomo Hawkins and his Technicolor Skittle Coat.

Skittlebrew/Skittlebraü

eugene171 is the first Legend to make a functional recipie for Skittlebrew. Currently the user xvolution is refining the process of creating a alcohol-free version of Skittlebrew (which he calls Skittlebraü). Through a bit of experimentation with various different sodas, a perfected recipe for Skittlebraü has been found.

From xvolution: You can try this recipe with any form of soda, but it works best with lemon-lime flavored soda. Mix 3/4 cup Skittles for each liter of soda you use. Carefully add the Skittles to the soda to avoid the "Mentos Effect" (in which the soda will shoot off a fountain of liquid into the air). Allow the mixture to 'brew' in a refrigerator until the Skittles fully dissolve into the soda. Lay the mixture on its side to speed up the rate the Skittles dissolve into the soda. Once fully dissolved, the shells of the Skittles will be floating on top of the mixture. You can either skim off the floating mass or keep it in the drink.

I have found that Club Soda works the best at capturing the full flavor of Skittlebraü. However, since Club Soda has no sweetening agent of its own, you must add more Skittles (1 cup per liter).

The Dow

A cross between a cow and a duck, this ASCII art has become a cult favorite on Legends. It is said to be the most dangerous animal ever conceived, with a very short temper. It is the creation of Kendo Master. The phrase "THE DOW IS NOT PLEASED" is often used to express displeasure at a topic.

The Syndicate

Many ages ago, when few regulars were on the board, beckdawg was known to be the greatest evil that ever was. Thus for, to add to the evilness of it all, he created a Syndicate, and plotted many of his malicious (and sometimes not so malicious) deeds there. Nobody knows exactly where this was, but the only people to know of it were supposedly the members of his Syndicate.

Pong 2

The Pong 2 game fad was created by digiNC, to oppose fans of the game Halo 2. The fad was characterized by excessive excitement and anticipation over the release of the sequel to Pong, and sparked many games of ASCII Pong to pass the time. He created the fad as a humorous reflection of the excitement surrounding the release of Halo 2 in November of 2004.

Pong 3 is said to currently be in beta testing and will come out for a new super-console that is yet to be conceived. However, the only console that can possibly handle Pong 3 is the Awesome Box 4. Without the AB4's triple 15-THz cores, 700 TB of ram, and insane graphics card, Pong 3 would only run at 10 FPS.

The Awesome Box 4 currently retails for about $1,337,000. Unlike other "next-gen" consoles, the Awesome Box 4 is fully worth it's cost.

TANG Topics

A topic that reaches 500 posts in under 24 hours. If the topic reaches 500 in less than 1 hour, or if the goal is for a really fast one, then it is considered a SUPER TANG. TANG was used as the final lottery game in Legendary Lottery XI, hosted by link02129. A long time ago, TANG races were also possible, where two TANG topics would race to see which could hit 500 posts the fastest.

Same Time 1st Post Topic

One memorable night, during a TorD, Kirby Freek suggested that it was possible, with perfect timing, to have post before the topic creator's post was posted. After several tries, it was found that it was only possible was to simply post at the same time, not before them.

Legendary Prank Phone Calls

During May 2006, a number of Legends joined up on Skype to plan and execute various prank phone calls to a number of businesses. Numerous pranks involved calling businesses and verbally assaulting them with NGG fads. Victims of these calls included McDonald's, Sony Style, Waffle (Roffle) House, and even other Legends. TorD

Not so much a game as it is a time of hilarious fun, Legendary Truth or Dare (aka TorD) is when most of the regulars gather together inside of an AIM chat room and dare each other to post topics (non-TOS violation ones of course). Sometimes humiliating, some times just plain weird, you can be sure that if there is a TorD, some people are going to be having some fun. Credit for starting TorD goes to Kendo Master.

Other Legends With Awesome Achievements

• DavidK5 holds 6 World Records for Perfect Dark, with his most recent being Chicago on the Agent difficulty (15 seconds!). He is currently ranked 45th in the world.
• Mud Turkey 13 has amassed a collection of 620 out of about 771 NES games. If you must know, this totals over $50,000 (based off the price of an NES game when they were released).

Famous Topics

Many many topics have spawned on the Legends Board over the years and quite a few of them have become famous ones, almost always found open for discussion. Some of them, however, just die.

The Adventures of Jedi Shelton

One day, punkrawkpunk88 posted a picture of himself at a young age. It showed him wielding a fake lightsaber, and Jedi Shelton's pwnage status on Legends was secured. Legend link02129 decided that it would be a good idea to write a fanfic for Jedi Shelton. The fanfic involves Shelton fighting the evil powers of Bill Gates, who set out to destroy gaming with the Xbox 360.

Shelton sets out with Jedi buddies Colinator, Jum Jum, and Mud Turkey to defeat Gates and save the galaxy. Along they way, they fight the likes of beckdawg, Giacomo Hawkins, the racer, and even wolfendog. In Episode 1-4, Shelton received the Skittle Saber from the ghost of the Legendary fisherman, Pickerel. The Skittle Saber is know to be a weapon of complete and utter pwnage. Jedi Shelton hasn't been seen recently due to the departure of punkrawkpunk88 and the Legends' lack of interest in the series.

Operation GFAS

"Operation GFAS" was a series of topics posted on Legends on July 15th that, when looked at the first letter of each topic, spelled "Go **** A Seal". The topics were disguised to look like regular social topics ("Eels attacked a guy at a beach near my house", "Civilization IV is an AAA game!"), and would only present it's hidden message to keen-eyed Legends. After 20 tense minutes of no other Legends bumping the topics involved in the message, the topics were closed and were then allowed to purge without someone messing up the order of topics. This picture shows the first success of Operation GFAS

Many months later, the same heist was pulled off again, only this time rather than creating brand new topics, various topic titles with all the required letters were bumped by a single user to form the phrase. Countdown From 10,000: Versions 1-20

Simply a topic in which many users from Legends would post numbers, counting down from 10,000. Here's an example:

First Post: 10,000
Next Poster: 9,999
Third Poster: 9,998
This pattern would continue until the number reached 0.

This topic was successful in counting down, and many failed spin-offs were formed after.

Social Topics

Topics of Love

Originally founded by PowerStone Junkie, these topics of love have become quite famous, and many people have come and gone, to share of love lost and of love gained. After PowerStone Junkie left Legends, BoltBlackJoker took charge of the topics of love. He kept his position until he retired himself during the 19th edition. RobynHoodwink was appointed as the replacement topic creator, starting with the 20th topic, but Silver Knux took the 21st (current) topic.

Tikki Lounge

Originally founded by Tikkimon, these topics of his have become quite famous, and quite often are no other places than just a topic in which to blow off steam.

Chief's Basement

Originally founded by ChiefShootemUp, his topics have recently become famous. Many assume that they are a reincarnation of the Tikki Lounge, but are wrong in this assumption. The Chief has been doing the basement topics since 2002, leaving his mark on various boards.

Legendary Bakery

The Legendary Bakery was a topic that died within its first two attempts at success. At the Legendary Bakery, Colinator baked the cookies, punkrawkpunk88 was his assistant, The Seabiscuit made fudge, and BoltBlackJoker packed the fudge. However, it is still believed that Giacomo Hawkins would have been better at packing the fudge. xvolution also tried baked Darkness Falls Cookies in an attempt to spread his darkness to Colinator's cookies. His attempt failed with the failure of the Legendary Bakery.

Mafia

A game that has been played at least 14 times. Created by goronlink, this game creates paranoia to the extreme. One or more killers (mafia), acting in secret, murder their fellow legends 1 at a time. After each killing, the surviving legends get the choice to execute someone whom they think is part of the mafia. The game ends when either all mafia or all innocents have died. Most of the newer mafia games have introduced the idea of "roles," such as Drug Dealers, Doctors, Bodyguards, and Psychos.

The series of games currently appears dead, but it has been brought back from death before, so there might still be another edition.

Spore Game

In his anticipation for the upcoming game called Spore, Justme2990 created the Legendary Spore Game the night of August 24th, 2007. It was modeled after similar spore games on the Spore Message Board. Each round, the host posts a story and status update, and the "players" of the game vote on their next action or evolution. When one topic reaches 500 posts, a new one is created. Each new topic continued the story from the previous. The game finally died out during its 5th topic in August 2009, approximately 2 years after its start.

A game which entails a host and several other people in a skewed, hilarious game of "Survival of the Luckiest" over the course of many days. There have been 6 editions so far.
