Marked Message Accuracy

Marked Message Accuracy, commonly referred to by its acronym (MMA), is a system that places priorities on marks made by a user in the moderation queue.

Marked Message Accuracy showed a relative rating of the proportion of a user's marks that were moderated. MMA levels were Strong, Good, Fair and Poor based on the percentage of successful marks. Originally, MMA was a private number only used by moderators to prioritize marks from good users and bad users. Users who had not marked a sufficient number of messages were designated as Unknown and were subject to the same two-mark rule.

Additionally, users who had a Poor MMA rating required two marks on a message in order for it to be seen in the moderation queue, hence providing some incentive for users to mark messages that were actual violations rather than wasting Moderators' time.

However, due to security breaches, especially the creation of Modfiles pages that showed MMA, CJayC made MMA public. The levels were visible in a user page. However, CJayC attached a disclaimer, denouncing any significant value to MMA. Despite this, violation hunters became obsessed, marking thousands of borderline violation posts. Eventually, CJayC scrapped the system, stating that it failed because of "people who cared about it way too much, and people who cared about it way too little."

MMA was a percentage-based system. However, users who consistently marked borderline posts were called "MMA whores," because the general population believed that those "whores" wanted to reach the highest MMA level. In practice, the highest level could be attained by marking the required number of messages to be upgraded from Unknown and having most of them moderated, resulting in a Strong rating. This fact was widely disregarded.

Continued existence

The official stance on GameFAQs is that MMA no longer exists. However, a popular conspiracy theory put forward by many users is that MMA still exists. They cite some users who claim messages they mark are rarely deleted unless other mark it as well, and do not think it is a coincidence this occurs every time they mark something.
