NES Completion Project
The NES Completion Project originated from the FAQ Contributors board, by Andrew Schultz. It started off as a suggestion posted to the FAQ board on May 24, 2004, which blew up and has achieved great results in the six years of its existence so far. The purpose of the project is simple: to cover (or attempt to) all the known NES/Famicom games in existence, based upon the GameFAQs game database. This includes all remaining US releases with no completed FAQs, as well as Japanese and European releases on the Famicom, and official games from all other regions. Due to the limitations of many FAQ writers on the site, many of the Japanese titles cannot be given proper FAQs because of the language barrier. This is starting to change with the availability of new resources to aid in this process.
The list of games that lacked full FAQ/Walkthroughs (referred to as incomplete games) for the project was compiled in the form of a text file and posted by Revned on January 8, 2005. Later that day he converted the list which was in a text file, to full HTML, and the official website for the project was born. The official NES Completion Project website contained a list of the remaining incomplete games, a tally and list of games covered since the start of the campaign, and various statistics. The site also includes, fully archived, copies of all past incarnations of the NES Completion Project topics, from the FAQ Contributors board. Revned ran the NES Completion Project site until June 6, 2005, when it was handed down to Devin Morgan. The website is still maintained and updated by Devin to this day, and is located at the link at the bottom of this page.
Even six years after its inception, the NES Completion Project is still moving along rather well, and the topic for it is currently on its ninth iteration. It has received a great amount of interest over time, resulting in 670 NES/Famicom games being covered (as of February 9, 2010). Some of the most active FAQ writers in this project are Devin Morgan, Brian Sulpher, Gemerl, adaml, Pseudonym, Da Hui, A Darkstar Ripclaw, and odino. The project has hit slow patches over time, largely due to other obligations of its members (school, work, etc.), but is still updated regularly and continues to entice new FAQ writers to help out.
