The PIE Button is an external webpage originally created in March 2003 by administrator of the GameFAQs Archive project, Roaddhogg. The origin of the button can be traced back through GameFAQs folklore, to a running joke which once occurred on the message boards in which it was suggested that the founder of GameFAQs, CJayC, had access to an administrative feature that was capable of banning a particular message board user, as selected by the system, completely at random.

The external PIE Button webpage was created as a spoof of this concept, which used Javascript to emulate the actions of a random GameFAQs user receiving a usermap axe. As of 2004, The PIE Button was operated and updated by Nhatters1314, who continued to manually update the list of users capable of being "banned" following the clicking of the button until sometime in 2006, when the site was terminated.

The concept of the PIE Button webpage was emulated by CJayC as part of GameFAQs' April Fools 2004 jokes, when a "Pie" link was added to user toolbars at random, which, when "activated", simply revealed the text "Mmmmm.... Pie". Popular GameFAQs spinoff message boards have also been known to implement such a feature in their own source code.
