Profile
On GameFAQs, each user has their own profile, containing the following information:
- User Name
- User ID
- Board User Level
- Account Creation Date
- Time and date of most recent visit to GameFAQs
- Public Contact Information
- Signature
- Quote
- Karma Info
- Active Messages Posted
- Moderated Messages
- Moderation History
- Tracked Topics
- Ignored Users
- Favorite Boards
- Contributor Recognition Page, if applicable
- My Games, if applicable
Note that this is when profile is viewed by owner of the account. Other users viewing someone else's use profile cannot see the number of active messages posted or their moderation history.
Profiles of inactive accounts may not be seen by users. This measure was introduced to help combat abusive profiles which could previously remain visible for quite some time after the user was suspended. Similarly, GameFAQs users cannot view the full profile of a GameSpot user (although they could simply log into their own GameSpot account if they were that curious). GameSpot profiles typically contain coloured text and images, a feature not available on GameFAQs.
Public Contact Information
On March 19th, 2008 an option was added to the Manage Account section, allowing users to add up to 20 different forms of contact information into their user profile. These include fields for:
- Websites
- Instant Messenger Systems
- Xbox Live Gamertags
- Playstation Network Usernames
- Wii System Friend Codes
- Wii Game Friend Codes (Individual)
- Nintendo DS Game Friend Codes (Individual)
Karma Info
The Karma Info page of the user profile houses the Top Karma Users list, as well as notes on how much karma the user has, what user level the user is, and how many more days worth of karma are required to attain the next user level. The Karma Info page also defines the remaining length of a warn or purgatory session for the user.
