San Andreas Social Board, or SASB is the Social Board for the Playstation 2 game Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. It is home of one of the longest-lasting, and self proclaimed 'best' communities of its kind to be found on GameFAQs. It has gained a following of many users since its conception in 2004. The SASB's fame (and infamy) have come from its lighthearted approach to most problems- rather than simply get angry at trolls or moderations, clever insults and mockeries are preferred. Most everything is random and pretty much everyone is welcome. Many have been driven away for their lackluster attempts at acceptance- simply being one's self is suffice. One ex-troll, Stryder has gained acceptance after his trolling days (he has since disappeared).

Beliefs

• The Board is No Place For San Andreas Talk, hence the catchphrase: "No Place For SA Talk!" Those who mistake the social board for on-topic are often ridiculed, heckled, and flamed, and sometimes directed to the sign saying "GB THAT WAY ====>" after the harsh telling off, just to lighten to mood (for themselves really).

• "Regular" Status is often sought but rarely achieved. Many users have drifted through the board, asking one question: "Am I a reg yet?" And the veterans always respond, "It's not a measure of time. If we know ya, then we're cool."

Fads

Like other boards, SASB has been the home of many fads. They can hardly be called fads, however- most of the content of the board is original and spontaneous. Well, not really. Everything done on the board has already been done before; however, absolutely no one really cares.

Fast Food Restaurant: A series of topics that lasted a few months, acting usually as stores or restaurants. Started by leon3142 with the creation of McLeon's and rivaled by Firaxis' Burger shack, led to the beginning of the Fast Food Wars, Also know as the Golden Age.

Kicking Conshy: Really fun to do before he suicided. Started by Metallica005 A.K.A meti

Competitions: Users engage in time-stamp based contests, the most famous of which are the annual Poke-a-User and King of the Mountain topics.

YingYangCrunk's comic site:YingYangCrunk is a established user who created lots of comics and uploaded them to the internet.

Golden Statue: It is a large golden statue that Firaxis built in honour to himself. It is kitted out with state of the art security. Actually this is a false conception. The statue was in fact given to Firaxis via Xegethra's magic bag topic. It is a relatively simple game where the poster posts about placing the hand in the bag and the topic creator saying what they get...Firaxis got the statue. Over time it has varied in height from being in the 100s of feet to the thousands.

Yard sales: A series (gotten up to the 7th edition) of topics that Discbreaker made over the course of the boards history, The Fad has grown so big that it expanded to the Antarctic Story Board..which has now died. Items include: but by far not limited to:

There has also been a user named along the lines of alein who had seen one of these topics and made a lesser successful version of his own called yard sell or something or other. Discbreaker wasn't happy and nor were many others, so the topic died. The topic wasn't very good, the items were either a failed copy of Discbreaker's or ones that took no thought to come up with...or just plain unfunny.

Robot wars of 2005: Not really a fad, just a major event in the SASB's history. One day, a user noticed a rumbling in the ground...soon to escalate in a full blown war against machine and SASBer. Many died in the great war and will be glad to tell of their story. The final robot, 2000ft tall, finally fell and has earned its place on any SASB map. Again Xegethra noticed the first wave approaching.

Hippoffee: Is simply coffee, made from hippos, it's Xegethra's creation that has lasted a while. In the early days he would often spill his particular cup, often while driving, resulting in wrapping the car around a lamppost, mangling it. There's been a few variations of it, one including cornflakes. Users often go to "Xeg's Hippoffee Shop" to get some....but never ask for cream.

Bar fights: One day a user was sitting in a bar when all of a sudden another user came in and started a fight...since then various users have had a fight in this bar..often demolishing it.

Goodnight topics: Although some places do this, this board always seems to do it, even if they are just saying goodnight for the night and the topic only gets a handful of nights in return they always crop up. Popular ones include topics made by dektora13, Lost Crow and nevershine. Often lasting up to the 500 mark and spanning weeks if not months with many goodnights posted within..and other things. Another common element of these topics is the user announcing going to bed and another crawling in or something similar and if the user hasn't left yet, following posts ensure random things related before they go, often the user doesn't leave after all and continues to post in it for a while, forgetting they were going to leave.

Kalia's No Place For SA ytmnds: She has made many of these...often they just repeat the same "THIS IS NO PLACE FOR SAN ANDREAS TALK, THIS IS THE SOCIAL BOARD" over and over again in an obscured voice with flashing backgrounds and letters. Although the same message they do vary in colour. Some are similar while others include different patterns, films, images and music. Some flash, some don't, its all mixed up in variation.

Doragon: Owned by Xegethra is his large, gothic, black, evil female dragon...after a typo he made saying he found a dragon, Kalia noticed and asked of this typo...since then it has been the dragon's name. She resides just outside the SASB.

Maps: Often the users of the board would list their places, things and events in map form known as the SASB map, usually drawn in low quality. Many have been made over the years, varying in layout and size. This map made by Xegethra is the most recent and continues to receive edits when needed. The maps tend to include things such as, the users homes, nevershine's mansion, Bar fight bars, the fast food restaurants, Fapping teddy outlet, Teh_poos hq, where the robot fell, Xeg's Hippoffee shop, Doragon's cave, Stadium, Troll bridge and many other things and places involved with the history of the SASB.

Fkeeing: A typo of fleeing, very popular with the board users to escape topics. The past tense of the word, "Fkew", was mistaken for a Censor bypass, It has since then been dropped.

Party Topics: A series of topics in which users would party around. Well known Parties, included nevershine's mansion.
