Social Boards
Social Boards are a type of board on GameFAQs. Social boards are distinguished by their lack of topicality, allowing anything to be discussed as long as they adhere to the remainder of the Terms of Use.

Types of Social Boards
While all social boards are not subject to the Off-Topic rule, there are two types of Social Boards:
Game Social Boards
A Game Social Board is a board created to divert traffic from the corresponding General Board. Game Social Boards often spawn close-knit communities which eventually distance themselves from the General Board. Some communities tend to disapprove of topics relating to the actual game being posted on their Game Social Board, and hence several petitions have been made asking moderators to stop moving off-topic posts to Game Social Boards.
General Social Boards
A General Social Board is a board that has no topicality and is intended solely for the purpose of talking to other users. There are many General Social Boards, including Current Events, Random Insanity, and Life, the Universe, and Everything. There are General Social Boards open to everyone at level 15 and above, and there are also level-restricted boards.
Many Secret Boards, Private Boards, and dead boards are used as General Social Boards by their communities.
