Special Interest Boards

Special Interest Boards, occasionally abbreviated as SI boards, are a type of board on GameFAQs. Special Interest boards are dedicated to a certain theme or subject, designed to provide user communities with a centralised board to discuss their field of interest. To ensure that discussion is restricted to the board topic, topicality is enforced.
Originally, CJayC provided a few Special Interest Boards, such as Roleplaying and Fanfiction, steadily adding more boards as he saw fit. Recently, however, Special Interest Boards have been created by popular demand as petitions on Site Suggestions, such as Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter and various Sports boards. In August 2005, CJayC provided a News: Past, Present, and Future split list with different Special Interest Boards, such as Weather and Nature and Politics, being drawn from the Katrina and War on Terrorism boards respectively.
Site Suggestions continues to put forward numerous suggestions for more Special Interest boards, but due to lack of popular demand most petitions are unsuccessful.
On December 8th, 2010, Special Interest Boards were divided into two categories: Gaming and Non-Gaming. This change was implemented to fix the problem of a large list.
