Suspension

A Suspension on GameFAQs is handed out by either a moderator or administrator in response to either a serious ToS violation or several repeated offenses. When an account is suspended, it cannot post messages, view private boards it has access to, or use level-based features until it's status has been reviewed by an administrator. Possible outcomes are lifting the suspension if it was found to be erroneous, turning it into a warning or a purgatory if it is decided that a second chance is warranted, or a ban or a usermap axe if not.

On the whole, most suspensions on GameFAQs end in either warnings or purgatory sentences of various length. Bans tend to occur only if the violation was particularly severe or if the user has shown that previous warnings/purgatories have taught him nothing. Additionally, if a user runs out of karma, possible only through many violations or from a new account that caused trouble right from the start, a ban always follows.

A violation in a user's profile always results in a suspension, no matter how major or minor it may be. This is because only administrators can perform a Profile Wipe.
